Important Skincare Tips for Swimmers

Swimming is one of the best fun activities to carry out especially in summers but exposing your skin to chlorinated water has its own problems. So you can look at the below mentioned points to protect your skin from the damage caused by swimming,

Slather on some SPF:

It is highly recommended to use a waterproof sunblock to prevent tanning. By applying this lotion on your skin, a protective layer will be formed on the skin and you will be able to prevent sun damage. All you need to do is to apply it on your exposed body parts, 15 minutes before taking a dip in the pool.

Take a quick shower:

Taking a shower before diving into the pool might sound pointless to most people but it is important at most pools. It is mandatory as the pool gets a little less dirty and your skin cells remain hydrated too; which in return prevent chlorine from entering your skin.

Keep yourself hydrated:

While swimming, you can feel dehydrated so it is better to keep sipping some water intermittently. By following this, your skin will be healthy and as it will have enough water, it will not easily absorb water from the pool.

Shower with warm water:

When you get out of the pool, it is suggested to always take a bath in a hot shower. By this, your skin pores will get opened up and all the dirt will excrete out. Use an anti-chlorine soap for better results. When you are done with cleansing your body, turn the shower to cool water so that the open pores are closed and moisture is retained.

Moisturize your skin:

When your skin feels a little dry and flaky, it is a warning sign for you. In order to keep your skin healthy, you need to apply a good moisturizer on a daily basis as it will keep your skin healthy and soft.

Drink herbal tea:

Good herbal teas have rich antioxidant properties in them that can reduce the stress of your body. These antioxidants in return will repair your damaged skin. You can have green tea as you like.

Eat your EFAs:

Nourishing the skin after or during regular swimming is of utmost importance. You should eat a diet that is rich in essential fatty acids, like smoothies, salmon, omega 3, nuts and avocados.

Put a mask (overnight):

The humidity of pool air plus chlorinated pool water can form fine lines, and make your face dry and tight. So boost your skin and put on a moisturizing and hydrating face mask to nourish your skin.
